Summary of the agreement regarding transfer of the right to publish a thesis

In order to be able to publish a thesis in electronic form, SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) has to come to an agreement with the author regarding transfer of copyright.

According to this agreement, SLU has the right to publish the thesis in electronic form without compensation to the author. But the transfer of copyright does not limit the authors right to use the work for commercial purposes. The agreement gives SLU the right to make copies and to make the work available to the public. SLU also has the right to make translations of the work to other languages and to make sound recordings of the work. This electronic publication made by SLU shall only be for the purpose of the university's research, teaching and Library requirements. If the work contains a computer program or programs, of which the Author is the copyright owner, SLU shall also have the right to make use of such a program or programs for the purposes stated in the agreement. The author shall always reserve SLU´s right in any other agreement of transfer of copyright for the work. The duration of the agreement follows what is stipulated in the Swedish Copyright Act about duration of copyright.
